Chamonix is situated at the foot of Mont Blanc, the famous European mountain (4807 m).

It's the oldest (more than 200 years old) and the most populated (10 000) mountain ski resort in France.

• the resort itself is at an altitude of 1000 m
• 90% of all ski runs are at an altitude of 2000 m
• more than 3000 ha of slopes
• 140 km of tracks
• one of the longest slopes – legendary Vallee Blanche (20 km)
